What will each route require in money, time, access and continuing responsibility?
Compare actual tasks and expenses across available routes. Separate a possible fee waiver or reduced mediation fee from an approved decision, and record the work, access needs and delays that remain.

What this guide helps you do
Access-to-justice planning with Colorado court fee-waiver, ODR, legal-aid and accommodation examples. This guide preserves its existing identity. It does not calculate a legal deadline, establish eligibility or promise free representation, a fee reduction or a recovery.
Build the cost and time record
List filing, service, copies, witness attendance, travel, childcare, missed work, professional help and any later collection task that may apply. For each, record the source of the estimate, whether it is confirmed and who must do the work. Separate money paid, time spent and uncertain future expense. This original worksheet makes assumptions visible; it does not estimate damages or recoverable legal costs.
Check the current fee-waiver route
The court gateway links JDF 205 and JDF 206, describes income and specified public-benefit routes and labels its income table January 13, 2026. It also distinguishes jail/prison procedures and filing channels. Read the actual current forms and responsible court’s directions. A requested waiver and a court’s order are different records; individual eligibility and which expenses are covered remain to be confirmed. Source: Colorado court fee-waiver gateway.
Compare mediation as a distinct service
ODR says a court case need not already be active and directs parties to agree on a mediator and contact that mediator directly. Its gateway links fees and reduced-fee applications separately. Ask for the current cost, scheduling, preparation and access conditions for the proposed service. No mediator, quote, appointment or reduced-fee determination was tested here. Keep legal-help availability visible
Legal aid may be an important route, but CLS says intake considers eligibility and available resources. Office and subject-specific notices matter. Record whether help was requested, whether it was accepted, the stated work scope and what remains with you. If intake is paused or assistance unavailable, retain the response and research another appropriate option rather than treating the request as completed representation. Treat access needs as a concrete task
Colorado’s state-court gateway links an accommodation-request route and local coordinators. Identify the responsible court or district, the activity you need to access and the question to discuss. Read current request and information-sharing instructions before supplying sensitive details. This review covered the directory, not a request form or individual decision, and does not establish the process for federal courts. Source: Colorado state-court accommodation gateway.
Review costs at each decision point
Compare the desired result with the next confirmed work and expense, the information still missing and the help actually available. Record an agreed next action and a review date. Keep actual orders and deadlines on their own list; seeking aid, mediation or a fee waiver does not supply an answer about whether a legal time limit changes. Preserve the learning for a future reader or adviser.

- List the demands: Money, time, access and responsibility.

Resources and their limitations
Colorado court fee-waiver gateway
Use it for: Locate the current fee-waiver forms, eligibility explanations and filing channel.
Access and cost: Public page is free; a requested waiver is distinct from an order and does not establish that every case expense is covered.
How to use it: Read the current eligibility explanation, open JDF 205 and JDF 206 and verify how the responsible court accepts the request.
Evaluation and limits: Income table is labeled updated January 13, 2026. The page separates regular requests, public-benefit routes and jail/prison procedures and limits online submission as described. Linked forms, CJD 98-01, benefit qualification and actual filing were not audited. No personal eligibility, fee amount or waiver outcome determined. Do not reuse table figures without current confirmation.
Alternatives: Court self-help or suitable legal aid; separately check reduced mediation fees.

Colorado ODR mediation access and cost gateway
Use it for: Compare mediation access, selection and cost questions with litigation needs.
Access and cost: Public gateway is free; mediation fees and possible reductions are linked separately and require a current quote or determination.
How to use it: Read the scheduling instructions; parties select an agreed mediator and contact that mediator directly, noting ODR status, access needs and relevant safety restrictions.
Evaluation and limits: No stable substantive revision date established. The page says an active court case is not required and parties agree on a mediator. No roster member, booking, fee schedule PDF, reduced-fee form, mediation policy, agreement or service tested. Confidentiality, settlement enforcement, protection-order effects and legal deadlines require separate advice.
Alternatives: Suitable community or private mediation, legal advice or the responsible court’s process.

Colorado Legal Services intake and office gateway
Use it for: Find the office and intake route appropriate to the county and problem.
Access and cost: Public page is free; CLS describes free civil legal assistance subject to intake, eligibility, resources and case acceptance.
How to use it: Find the office serving the relevant county, read current intake notices and prepare the facts and documents before contacting that office.
Evaluation and limits: Metadata updated October 16, 2026. At capture Denver reception listed a pause for new housing, ID, tax and benefits applications with stated reopening October 26; specified family-violence applications and existing clients were treated separately. Greeley still displayed a September road-closure notice. Confirm current subject, office and access directly; do not generalize these notices statewide. No application, eligibility assessment, appointment, representation or response time tested.
Alternatives: LSC locator; another suitable local provider or official court self-help.

Colorado state-court accommodation gateway

Access and cost: Public directory is free; individual requests, supporting information and available arrangements were not tested.
How to use it: Locate the responsible state court or district and read its current request instructions with the appropriate coordinator.
Evaluation and limits: Directory and introductory scope only. Request form, supporting medical information, resource-guide PDF and individual coordinator availability not audited. No accommodation entitlement or decision established. This state-court route is not a federal-court procedure. No stable substantive revision date established.
Alternatives: The actual court’s access coordinator; suitable disability-rights or legal help.

From the historical registry to current practice
Federal Domestic Assistance presents a program catalog organized by purpose, eligibility and how to apply; its visible subject index includes legal services. Modern legal-aid navigation is separately sourced. No historical program, office, contact, eligibility, funding, application instruction or adjacent insurance table is current guidance. Spring 1969, PDF page 95, printed page 93. Cost and access planning is a further modern extension; no historical affordability or entitlement claim adopted.

Sources and review notes
Scoped navigation and preparation research. Controlling statutes and rules, individual duties, deadlines, eligibility, remedies and outcomes require separate review. No case filing, provider contact, application, professional search, booking or report submitted. Linked forms are unread except for the explicitly partial JDF 248 extraction.
