Find official election and participation information

Organized folders, a calculator, notebook and craft materials on a community worktable.

Which official source can answer the registration, method, location or access question for my election?

Identify the election and responsible state/local office. Use its current instructions to check registration, available methods, requirements, locations and deadlines. Keep a dated source record and distinguish general guidance from an individual status result.

Evidence checked October 18, 2026 (America/Denver). Version 1.0. Desk review; no hands-on testing.

What this guide helps you do

Nonpartisan U.S. election-information navigation, with Colorado examples captured October 18, 2026. This guide does not determine anyone’s eligibility, registration, ballot status, deadline or legal rights. It recommends no party, candidate or ballot position and performs no voter lookup or registration.

Start with the election and responsible office

Identify the state or territory, local election office and actual election. EAC explains that administration is decentralized and practical information comes from state and local offices. The procedure relevant to one location or election may not apply elsewhere. Use the official route and retain the source date when resolving an access or participation question. Source: EAC voter administration and participation FAQs.

Distinguish checking from changing a record

Vote.gov’s Colorado navigator separates a registration check from registering or updating online, by mail or in person. Its page shows a November 2024 update. Follow the state’s current instructions for the actual task and election rather than using that older general page as an individualized deadline or eligibility determination. This review entered no personal information. Source: Vote.gov Colorado registration navigator.

Use the current state gateway deliberately

Go Vote Colorado displayed a 2026 General Election section and distinct routes for registration, record checks, ballot-status/tracking, locations and county-clerk assistance. This review read the gateway; it did not open a voter record, sample ballot, registration form, tracking account or ballot-cure service. Select the appropriate official route and check the information needed there. Source: Go Vote Colorado current-election gateway.

Verify method, place, access and actual dates

Confirm the applicable method, official location, required documentation and current instructions with the responsible office. Keep registration, mailing, ballot-return and in-person questions separate. The sources contain method-specific date statements, but this draft does not calculate a deadline or decide which applies to a person. An undated excerpt or a general national FAQ is not a substitute for the actual election instructions. Source: EAC voter administration and participation FAQs.

Separate information from advocacy

Locate official sample-ballot or measure-information routes where appropriate, and distinguish the original text, official explanation, independent analysis and advocacy. No candidate list, Blue Book PDF, ballot measure or political position was evaluated here. Preserve sources and competing evidence so a reader can examine claims independently; the library’s role is to make reliable participation information findable. Keep confirmation and unresolved questions

If you later use an official service, retain the information needed to verify the actual result through that office. Keep sensitive personal data in appropriate private records. Record any unresolved access, record or method question and seek the relevant official assistance. The library should preserve the dated route for later review without claiming that a gateway visit completed registration or confirmed a ballot’s status.

  2. Find the official route: Registration, methods, locations and access.
