What this guide helps you do
Civil-rights reporting and court-access navigation, using a federal DOJ overview and Colorado CCRD and state-court examples. This is a scoped route-finding guide, not an exhaustive survey of protections or a determination of a violation, jurisdiction, filing deadline, exhaustion, accommodation or remedy.
Record the setting and the actual concern
Describe what happened, when and where, who acted, who has direct knowledge and which documents exist. Distinguish facts from an inference about motive or legal liability. Identify the kind of setting, such as a workplace, housing, public service or court activity, and the protection or assistance sought. The correct legal basis and responsible authority still require current, issue-specific review.
Understand the federal reporting overview
DOJ describes review by staff, possible requests for more information, mediation or investigation, referral, or an inability to help. It also says response times vary and points urgent legal needs to local aid or lawyers. A federal report is a distinct process from private representation or a court case. This review read the overview and did not open or submit the reporting form. Source: DOJ Civil Rights Division reporting overview.
Separate state intake from formal filing
CCRD’s process page gives an explicit warning: sending intake information does not file a formal discrimination complaint. The overview describes a jurisdictionally valid formal, signed and verified complaint as a separate filing step. Confirm the process promptly with the responsible authority and suitable legal help. No numerical deadline, appeal condition or exhaustion conclusion is established by this guide. Source: Colorado Civil Rights Division complaint-process overview.
Use a court-access route for an access task
For participation in Colorado state-court or probation services, the Judicial Branch’s disability-access gateway identifies a request route and local coordinators. Locate the relevant court or district and read current instructions. An accommodation request is a different task from reporting alleged discrimination. This directory review establishes neither an individual entitlement nor the procedure in federal court. Source: Colorado state-court accommodation gateway.
Keep submission, acknowledgement and result distinct
If you later choose to submit material, retain exactly what was sent, when and through which route, the acknowledgement or number and the response. Ask what additional step is required and how actual deadlines are determined. A gateway visit, intake request, report number and legally effective filing are different records; do not substitute one for another without current confirmation.
Retain independent help and unanswered questions
Prepare a concise handover for appropriate legal assistance: chronology, relevant records, route already tried, actual correspondence and the next unresolved requirement. Preserve evidence that challenges the initial account as well as evidence supporting it. The point is to make a protection usable through careful source and process checking, while keeping the reader’s individual legal questions visible.

From the historical registry to current practice
Government Printing Office describes official publication lists and a subject catalog including laws, rules and regulations. Current court-process and civil-rights navigation are modern extensions. No historical contact, ordering term, price, law, deadline, remedy or adjacent technical prescription is adopted. Spring 1969, PDF page 94, printed page 92.
